30-Day_Part2

The challenge is a pretty sweet!

See the blog Expatriatism for a list of the other worthy participants, including my artist niece, and links to their daily drawings.

Day 17: Our assignment was to draw our First Crush.

I honestly have no idea who my “first crush” was, or if I would call anything back then a crush. My first real romance became my wife.

If anything, my first crush was a man crush, but I certainly would never admit to that on the internet! I was crazy about Herb Alpert, when I was about 10 years old, learning trumpet and into all things Tijuana Brass.

So go ahead and criticize my lack of honesty, my poor memory, my cheating on the challenge, my addiction to sugar… you name it. But Orange Crush it is.

Or just blame it on my getting home late tonight after an amazing day with our grandson, a book signing with author Stephan Pastis for his new kids’ book Timmy Failure, followed by Korean BBQ with our kids (grandson again and his little sis) to celebrate their anniversary.

So crushes or no, I’m still with my first love and our growing little tribe.

It was a good day.

(Stephan Pastis is the award-winning creator of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine, and Timmy Failure is his bestselling new debut middle-grade kids’ book.)
